In my humble opinion, the tipping culture has gotten out of control recently. I usually tip 20% at restaurants, bars, etc., but lately it’s like EVERYWHERE expects a tip.
I also can’t stand the *turns iPad* “I’m just going to ask you a question…” thing which is normal now. It’s so embarrassing. Can’t we just say what it is??? A tips screen, for crying out loud!
OK, sorry, I’m moaning. But in case you’re as excited as I am about the subject, here are 26 photos that will make you boil with rage.
1.
This ELEVATOR requires a tip. It’s a machine!!! Who does the money go to??? It says “staff members” in clear letters, but which ones?
2.
This landlord who asked for a tip on the rent must be wrong.
3.
This passive-aggressive reminder to tip staff actually ends up making the company, not the customer, look like crap. Why do you say that as if it is our responsibility to pay your employees when YOU employ them? PAY THEM MORE. Even charge us more, I don’t care! But don’t do this bullshit!!!
4.
This cafe also didn’t seem to realize that this was reflecting horribly on them.
5.
I feel like this MUST be a joke. Who do I tip??? The park??? Trees?
6.
This person had the siding on their house replaced for $40,000…and was asked to pay tips on their payments.
7.
Look, I want the kitchen staff to get their due, that’s really what I want. But if we’re not already paying for that in the price of food, what are we paying for??? Why don’t you tip your kitchen staff, giant restaurant chain?
8.
Tipping percentages are also getting out of hand. Who the hell suggests a 50% tip?
9.
Asking for a tip at a SELF-SERVICE cash register is going too far. You literally tip your own service, but you don’t get any money.
ten.
What kind of hobbit nonsense is this second advice bullshit???
11.
This is completely ridiculous. Who tips MORE than the cost of the service???
12.
This check suggested a 77% tip, because at this point, why not?
13.
There is no reason to tip when purchasing online.
14.
And now they add TAXES on tips???
15.
This place flat out lied about the equality of the different tip percentages.
16.
This place charged a 20% “service fee” – and ALWAYS expected a tip.
17.
This delivery app tried to encourage people to tip for faster service. This seems very sketchy, and I also HATE when you’re supposed to tip before service occurs, because tipping is supposed to be based on the quality of service.
18.
This new hire sheet specifies that workers do not receive tips – and that’s the reason for my trust issues around tipping, people!!! I want the person I tip to actually receive the tip.
19.
I feel like it’s illegal, but I also feel like too many people are having money taken from their tips as well, and that annoys me.
20.
This platform literally called on people not to tip.
21.
And this site wouldn’t even let you complete your transaction without tipping at least 10% – nor would it let you tip a custom percentage or amount.
22.
These portable, unstaffed public toilets were equipped with a tip jar. ADVICE FOR WHOM?
23.
This delivery guy was expecting tips.
24.
Just like this driver, who took the time to send a message to the recipient through the Amazon app, which is supposed to be used when a driver is having trouble delivering an item.
25.
I’m really at a loss for words. Where the hell is this “trick” going? This little rabbit?
26.
And finally, I still feel like there must be a better system for writing tips, because servers can do it.
