If you are baking a cake for an event or party, you will have many different options to choose from. You have
sheet cakes, layer cakes, cup cakes, and even no-bake cakes, to name a few. But there is one type of cake that stands above the rest if you want something as impressive to look at as it is to taste: trifle! These chilled desserts are usually made with pieces of moist cake, creamy custard, and fruit, then served in a clear glass dish so you can see all the layers of flavors.
Here you’ll find some great trifle recipes, many of which can be served as a family. We’ve also included a few in individual mugs! Don’t know where to start? Consider starting with something seasonal, like a gingerbread cheesecake trifle that would be a perfect addition to your Christmas desserts or the red, white and blue trifle for your July 4th Menu. Of course, you can always prepare a trifle that suits all seasons and all occasions: just choose from one of the many chocolate dessert recipes on this list or choose from your favorite flavor combinations: lemon and blueberry, chocolate and mint, or coffee and caramel.
Although some of these trifle recipes provide instructions for a homemade cake, you can also use a store-bought cake if you’re in a hurry. In fact, a trifle is a great way to raised cake mix or use thawed pound cake, but don’t worry, no one needs to know! 😉
