Skipper Shakib Al Hasan is looking forward to playing against India on October 19, as revealed by team director Khaled Mahmud. However, the star cricketer’s participation is dependent on achieving 100 per cent fitness.
Shakib underwent a scan after the Tigers’ recent encounter against New Zealand, where he felt discomfort in his left thigh while batting.
Mahmud reassured that the famous all-rounder is currently free of any pain.
“He feels better than before. He doesn’t feel any pain now. But we can’t say how he will perform on the field. Maybe he will practice and run between the wickets tomorrow, and then we can assess how he is doing on the field. on the field,” Mahmud commented on Shakib’s current condition.
The team director stressed that Shakib’s fitness assessment is crucial for his inclusion in the lineup against India.
“His run will be observed tomorrow. He batted and also bowled 10 overs even after suffering the blow of injury in the previous match. If that is the case, that is, if he does not feel any discomfort, then maybe he will be able to play. Shakib wants to play, but it will depend on his 100 percent fitness,” he added.
It is worth noting that Shakib, who was criticized for leaving Tamim Iqbal out of the World Cup squad due to fitness concerns, finds himself under scrutiny over his own fitness as the Tigers prepare for a high-stakes encounter against hosts India.
