WALNUT CREEK, California., November 16, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Del Monte Foods, Inc. today shared an update on the first year of its Nourishing Families by Nourishing Schools program, a groundbreaking initiative launched in partnership with the Nonprofit Alliance lucrative for a healthier generation (Healthier Generation). This commitment was made to support the company’s Growers of Good™ goal of creating a healthier, brighter future by making nutritious food more accessible to everyone.
The partnership between Del Monte Foods and Healthier Generation was announcement at the 2022 meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). The program aims to improve the physical, mental and socio-emotional well-being of children, with a strong commitment to reaching 75 percent of students representing Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) populations.
A year of progress
During the first year, the partnership:
- Reached 1.25 million families with nutritious, family-friendly recipes and activities to foster community and connection through meals.
- Engaged more than two million children has almost 4700K-12 schools with the content of the program.
- Inclusive reach ensured with 67 percent students and families impacted to date representing BIPOC and 75 percent impacted schools and districts serving disadvantaged communities through Title I funding.

This year’s programming included the launch of four impactful multimedia campaigns to promote nutrition education and access:
- As the holiday season approaches, Healthier Generation and Del Monte Foods have provided virtual resources and content for families to help them bring joy to their children’s meals. holiday campaignincluding nutritious, fun and affordable recipes with some twists on holiday classics.
- Through the Choose good, do good In January and February, customers could purchase Del Monte Foods products at a discounted rate at participating retailers and a portion of sales would be donated to Healthier Generation programs to support children and families.
- For National Nutrition Month in March, the partnership provided families with resources to encourage physical activity and family bonding during mealtimes with affordable and nutritious meals.

Looking ahead, Del Monte Foods and Healthier Generation are committed to increasing their impact in year two and beyond.
