Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will inaugurate the 5th edition of the Global Ayurveda Festival in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala today. The Global Ayurveda Festival (GAF) 2023 will be held in the state capital of Kerala from December 1 to 5, with the theme ‘Emerging Healthcare Challenges and a Resurgent Ayurveda’. The largest ever conclave on Ayurveda, GAF 2023, will see international practitioners of this alternative medicine, researchers, policy makers and industry leaders come together to explore its impact on healthcare. The conclave will be attended by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi. Vijayan, Union Minister Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Animal Husbandry Minister Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of State and GAF Organizing Committee Chairman V. Muraleedharan, and President of the Republic of Mauritius Prithvirajsing Roopun, Sisira Jayakody, Minister of State for Indigenous Medicine of Sri Lanka, among others.
Delegations from more than 70 countries will attend the event, which highlights the growing recognition of the relevance of Ayurveda in addressing global health issues. Highlights of the festival include expert-led scientific sessions focusing on the latest scientific advances in Ayurveda, high-level industrial and institutional participation showcasing innovative Ayurveda-based products, services and research initiatives, and presentations posters and articles. He also said that the Arogya National Fair at GAF would showcase a diverse range of medicinal plants and their use in Ayurvedic preparations. All leading Ayush institutions of the country will set up their stalls at the exhibition and there will be pavilions of 20 Ayurvedic colleges. GAF 2023 will also see India’s first business-to-business (B2B) meetup dedicated to Ayurvedic medical tourism, connecting healthcare pioneers with buyers from across the world and showcasing the country’s wealth of Ayurvedic healthcare resources.
A free medical camp, with 25 specialized clinics, outpatient services from top Ayurvedic doctors during the five days onsite, free distribution of medicines worth Rs 15 lakh and a spacious ‘Ayurveda Aahar’ food court serving a large variety of healthy foods are the other attractions of GAF 2023.
