February 27, 2023 — In response to the growing demand for immunity-boosting plant-based foods and alternatives, Nestlé is set to unveil a plethora of wellness-related NPDs in the coming weeks, health and nutrition.
New products include Vital Proteins Daily Greens, launched this month, which are made with “nutrient-rich superfoods, research-backed probiotics and broad-spectrum antioxidants.”
Likewise, Solgar presents its new range of probiotics to respond to the growing desire for intestinal well-being. The line includes several varieties: Advanced Daily Support, Advanced Bowel Support, Advanced Sleep Support, Women’s Complete and Weight Management.
In the alternative dairy space, Natural Bliss will expand beyond its territory as a creamer and into its first plant-based milk, unveiling Natural Bliss Oat Milk. Made from a blend of oats and bean protein, it will be available in original and unsweetened varieties and will launch in May.
Likewise, Starbucks will introduce its dairy-free flavored creamers, made from a blend of almond milk and oat milk mixed with added flavors. Nestlé continues expand its alternative dairy developments whilst recently teaming up with Fonterra to assess and research ways to achieve net zero carbon emissions from its traditional dairy practices.
Orgain, Nestlé recently acquired brand of plant-based protein powder, will unveil its plant-based protein + collagen powder. It promotes healthy gut, hair, skin and nails and is composed of plant proteins and bovine collagen peptides.

Consumer desire for enhanced wellness benefits has increased post-COVID-19, with immunity claims and nutrient-dense products proving strong appeals.
Healthier proteins
Consumer demand for healthier, lower-carb options continues to rise, leading California Pizza Kitchen to launch its gluten-free BBQ chicken frozen pizza with cauliflower crust in April.
Likewise, Life Cuisine’s Carb Wise single-serve pizza line adds Keto-Friendly Vegetarian Pizza as an option for keto-friendly and low-carb diets. DiGiorno will also introduce its gluten-free crust pizza.
Nestlé is responding to the growing demand for plant-based and alternative protein options by advancing its Sweet Earth plant-based brand.
The brand will update several appetizer bowl, burrito and pizza recipes while introducing new packaging designed to increase shelf visibility. New recipes featured will include the Protein Lover Burrito and Korean BBQ-Style Chik’n.
Nestlé Professional recently defended its Sweet Earth brand as part of its Purpose-driven plant-based incubatora collaboration designed to accelerate and encourage plant-based eating at universities.
The food and beverage giant will showcase some of these new product developments at Natural Products Expo West 2023 in Anaheim, California, next month.
Along the same lines, Nestlé recently recorded its strongest sales growth in 14 years. However, historically high raw material prices penalized the company’s volume growth, which remained stable compared to last year.
The Swiss catering giant managed to increase its sales by 8.4% in 2022 to 94.4 billion francs ($102.42 billion), thanks to price increases of 8.2% and the recovery out-of-home catering channels. However, according to CEO Mark Schneider, the company’s profit margin declined by 2.6%, a “massive” amount.
