Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Kabir chanting, workshops on pottery, flameless cooking and nutrition were organized at Gandhi Bhawan under the guidance of Anant Mahotsav on Saturday evening.
This was part of the second day of the three-day program ‘Anant Mahotsav’. Harda’s Folk Studio group presented devotional songs of the 15th century saint and poet Kabir, which greatly fascinated the audience. The songs included “Mat Kar Maya Ko Abhiman…”, “Kya Lekar Aaya Tu Jag Mein…”, etc.
Studio member Ritesh Gohia said that Kabir’s hymns purify the mind and connect one with God. Classical music was also presented by Bhanu.
Apart from the cultural events, visitors were also able to enjoy hands-on pottery workshops with Veena Singh and her team from Bhopal, “Cooking” It Up! by Sakib from Udaipur, Nutri-Thought by Dr Amita Singh from Bhopal. A large number of middle and high school students also took part in the workshops, particularly the pottery one.
Veena Singh’s team members, including Samiksha Rathore, taught participants how to make pottery themselves through a live demonstration. Most participants make cups and flower pots on site. Sakib taught flameless cooking techniques and also served cooked meals at the end of the workshop. Nutritionist Dr. Amita Singh gave a talk on the topic of nutrition and importance of coarse grains. People also enjoyed organic Navratri delicacies and fasting dishes including baked curd, sugarcane juice, Darjeeling momos, tacos, pav ki pav bhaji made from black flour and dosa. The event is organized to celebrate the completion of three years of Anant Mandi, a market of organic farmers and local artisans.
