Offered by the Center for Healthy Living (CHL), “HealthKick” is a six-week virtual education program that addresses physical activity, nutrition education, healthy habits and stress reduction.
By increasing education on these topics, the program strives to create long-term behaviors and build ongoing relationships with CHL health coaches and dietitian to improve overall well-being.
The next session begins September 12 and is available to all benefit-eligible employees at the West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Northwest campuses (Hammond and Westville), as well as dependents covered by a Purdue health plan.
The program is based on daily videos, approximately five minutes long, delivered via text message or email (depending on preference), Monday through Friday during the six-week program period. Additionally, the program includes three integrated individual sessions with a CHL health coach or dietitian, which are established at the start of the program.
Participants are required to complete a survey at the end of each week that will help provide insight into their health journey. Health coaches receive the surveys and contact them personally each week to offer support and encouragement; Health coaches will also be available for health coaching appointments in person or over the phone, as needed.
“The HealthKick program helps us respond to requests for more virtual and telephone program options,” said Candace Shaffer, senior director of human resources benefits. “The program supports our Healthy boiler program and his physical health pillar, which champions health education and much more to help individuals achieve lasting physical health and well-being. We hope the program continues to be well received by the Purdue community.
