Exercise daily
Improved life expectancy is strongly linked to daily exercise. A comprehensive review of studies in the Journal of Aging Research showed that people who exercise regularly, even for just three hours a week, live up to 6.9 years longer than those who don’t.
Creating habits is the key to success. The easiest way to create a habit is to commit to daily workouts, even if it’s just 20 minutes. If you do, you may skip a day, but you’ll be more likely to get back on track immediately.
If you exercise three days a week and miss a workout, you may go four to five days without exercising and eventually give up.
For life expectancy, it is more important to exercise regularly year after year than to have bouts and onsets of intense exercise followed by periods of no exercise.
Remember, exercising daily doesn’t necessarily mean going to the gym every day. Home exercises such as yoga, stretching, free weights, swimming or brisk walking can be incredibly beneficial, especially if you are older.
