The 2021 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data is now available through the CDC’s easy-to-use web tool. Data topics include health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, access to health care, and use of preventive services.

- Mental and physical health
- Healthy days
- Depression
- Diabetes
- Arthritis
- Asthma
- HIV testing
- Vaccinations
- Obesity and overweight
- Physical activity or exercise
The tool allows users to understand important health issues in their state and make state and national comparisons quickly and easily. It also offers different ways to view the results of a survey of more than 438,000 residents of the United States and U.S. territories.

Background:
The BRFSS provides a solid foundation for understanding health problems in states, evaluating and maintaining public health programs, and making progress in improving health and reducing health disparities. The Prevalence and Trends tool provides quick access to much of the 2021 dataset and can be a useful resource for journalists, students, public health officials and policymakers. The tool is updated every year.
