With the goal of empowering women and prioritizing their well-being, Colorado Community Media partnered with Advent Health Parker and Castle Rock to host a women’s health and wellness event in Parker.
The women were invited to Parker Fieldhouse, sponsored by the Parker Chamber of Commerce, for a day of listening and learning. They could listen to speakers talk about various health and wellness topics, shop and meet vendors, and participate in free health screenings.
The health screenings allowed guests to check their blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index, memory, skin and resting metabolic rate.
Nearly 300 people attended the day-long event, which included everything from informative workshops to self-defense classes. Guests also had the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in nutrition, fitness, mental health and self-care.
With over 60 vendors, there was a wide variety of businesses. From High Dermatology has Indigo Breath & Well-being, Crucial sports performance has Vibrant Foodsguests could try different products.
Throughout the day, guests participated in eyelash application, facial treatments, a 15-minute stretching session per Stretching Lab and IV flows through Skin Care and Moore.
Nikki Shahi is a student at Rocky Vista University and with other students participated in the event.
Additionally, she helped attend the self-defense class. The course gave the women some tips on how to defend themselves in different types of situations – like at a party – and had the opportunity to practice their newly learned skills.
Although she was busy talking to attendees about what they do at school, Shahi had the chance to visit other vendors where she participated in a 15-minute session at vendor Stretch Lab.
Like Shahi, many people working at Sellers have taken the time to mingle with other businesses, collaborate and learn about what’s offered in and around the community.
Alex Sopocy and Aspen Graber of A Promising Future said they were able to have good interactions with people passing by and allowed them to educate people on what they do.
Located near Parker, A promising future focuses on the health of women facing unexpected pregnancies and helping them develop life skills.
Holistic health coach, Natalie Dunston spent the day talking to guests about the constant stress women experience and helping them develop stress techniques and improve their self-esteem.
JoAnn Puls attended the event because she wanted to see what was available and recommend it to others.
Formerly a nurse, Puls is also a breast cancer survivor and founding board member of Peace Lights, whose goal is to empower women and support other women.
“For me it’s very important,” Puls said. “We need this as women.”
She said attending the event gave her a lot of information that she can pass on to others, such as breast cancer support groups.
“As women, we must be empowered in all aspects of our health,” Puls said. “We tend to give and give to others and we need to remember to take care of ourselves. »
Those who registered for the event were in the running for several prizes such as gift cards from Skincare & Moore, a hydrofacial, a BBL treatment from Elevated Dermatology, free entry to the Sugar Detox Academy, free entry to a master class at Sourcing to Source and more.
Other sponsors of the event were Rocky Vista Health Center, Orange Fitness Theory, Douglas County Mental Health Initiative, Douglas County Health Department, Renewal by Andersen and the Parker Chamber of Commerce.
