International Chefs Day is celebrated around the world on October 20 every year. This day honors chefs and promotes the importance of healthy eating. This annual event features a designated theme; This year’s theme for International Chefs Day is “Growing Great Chefs”.
Dr. Bill Gallagher, a distinguished master chef and former president of the World Association of Chef Societies (Worldchefs), established International Chefs Day in 2004.
Unlike many contemporary professions, the role of a leader has been an integral part of our society throughout history. Food, being a basic necessity, has been the subject of experimentation for millennia. As early as the first century CE, a Roman epicurean named Marcus Apicius was the author of the world’s first cookbook, aptly named “Apicius” or “The Art of Cooking.”
This landmark tome contained more than 400 recipes, and Marcus went to great lengths to find the necessary ingredients, highlighting the enduring importance of culinary exploration.
