WHO health for all The Film Festival (HAFF) partners with the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) to screen a series of films and short films “Cinema and Health” at the “Linterna Mágica” cinema in Mexico City, October 24-27 .
After the screening on October 6 in CopenhagenDenmark, HAFF short films on mental health, and several other similar national or local events in 2022, this action by the WHO National Office in Mexico and the WHO Regional Office for the Americas, is another demonstration that HAFF is increasingly contributing to health promotion. through cinema on various national occasions.
An opening ceremony will take place on October 24 in the presence of the director of the Pan American Health Organization, Dr. Jarbas Barbosa, and senior authorities from Mexico’s health and cultural sectors.
In this screening cycle, a selection of 11 short films on health issues in the Americas, nominated for the “WHO Health for All” Film Festival (see detailed list below), will be complemented by films directed by Mexican directors who deal with various subjects. related to health and well-being. During the four days of the cycle, there will be presentations from directors, question and answer sessions with experts and debates; promote conversations, proposals and actions to engage the general public through cinema towards better health.
The cycle responds to the objective of the IMSS associated with the reopening of the Linterna Mágica cinema: to broadcast short films, auteur and cult films, and to organize cinematographic education activities, promoting health through cultural activities .
