NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVER MONTH: Since 1994, National Family Caregivers Month has been an opportunity to recognize family caregivers. Did you know that in our country alone, there are more than 53 million family caregivers providing unpaid care?1 The economic value of this unpaid care totals more than $470 BILLION!2 So, if you are a natural caregiver, thank you! And if you know a caregiver, be sure to recognize their efforts this month. Caregiving is not for the faint of heart; It’s hard work, but it can also be a very rewarding experience.

Build-A-Basket SEASON is in full swing: This holiday season, Generations is sponsoring its 15th annual Build-A-Basket project to help meet the basic needs of Generations customers while bringing them a little holiday cheer. Generations serves seniors in Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Knox, Martin and Pike counties. These people are on fixed incomes and often cannot afford the daily necessities that many of us take for granted. This project is open to schools, churches, businesses and individuals. Simply purchase a laundry basket or tote and fill it with items like dish soap, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. Many people also decorate their baskets to make them more festive. A list of suggested basket items as well as the list of drop-off points are available on the Générations website at GenerationsNetwork.org and on the Générations Facebook page. Baskets must be completed and submitted no later than December 20. Generations staff and volunteers will deliver the gift baskets. For any questions or to register your cart by telephone, please contact Alma Kramer at 812-888-4527, toll-free at 1-800-742-9002, or by email at akramer@vinu.edu.
