About half of Americans eat healthily, at least by their own accounts. According to Statista Consumer Insights, 50% of Americans say they are actively trying to eat in good health. This attitude is more prevalent among baby boomers, with 58 percent agreeing, but not much lower among Gen Z, where 44 percent said they are pursuing this goal.
At the same time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that more than 36 percent of Americans regularly consume fast food, so much so that on any given day, a third of Americans eat at fast food restaurants.
In a separate investigation by the Cleveland Clinic46 percent of American adults said it was a barrier to eating healthy food was their price. Nearly a quarter of Americans said they have little time to cook and prepare healthy foods, while a high percentage of 20% said they don’t know how to cook healthy foods.
