Srinagar, April 8: A health awareness program was organized at Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS), Uri, Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
The theme of the awareness program was “Healthy Lifestyle”.
In a statement issued here, the organizers said Saaya and Uri Foundation, the two Kashmir-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs), organized the awareness program in the border town,
Organizers said the aim was to educate students on the need and importance of health and hygiene.
The program began with the inaugural address of lawyer Naveed Bukhtiyar who briefed the students about the aim and objectives of the organization and the motive behind the event.
Principal of Uri Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Mushtaq Sopori, formally welcomed the guests to the institution and said that such programs should be conducted regularly in Uri.
Dr. Asif from Block Medical Office Uri spoke in depth about oral health and ways to improve it. Syed Yasir, a class 11th student also gave a short speech on healthy living.
Rehana Bano, coordinator of Block Asha, Uri, stressed on the best way to wash hands and stay clean. Dr Major Sachu Jacob James of Kala Pahar Brigade, Uri spoke about a healthy lifestyle and involved the students in many activities.
The program was attended by nearly 15 teachers and 85 students and was moderated by Abid Shafi, a teacher at the school, the statement said.
Uri Foundation Media Coordinator Zaffer Iqbal and other members including Iqbal Banday, Sajid Naseer, Abrar Bhat and Bashir Ahmad Bhat also attended the program.
