Everybody Loves snack, so why not get plenty of health benefits from these delicious snacks if we can? Dr. Ian Smith’s book Burn, melt, shred has plenty of recipes, including these low-cost snack ideas that taste delicious and will keep you full for hours.

1. Tomatoes with cheese
This is an option that children will love it as much as adults will, and they are incredibly simple to make.
“You just take plum or beefsteak tomatoes, make sure you cut them at least ½ inch thick…Then you put your marinade – your extra virgin olive oil, your salt, your cracked black pepper, in bowl. Then you roast it. for about 25 to 35 minutes at 325 degrees,” says Dr. Ian.
“And then you just take some parmesan and sprinkle it (on top).”
Why it’s good for you: “Tomatoes contain antioxidants and cheese also contains calcium and protein,” says Dr Ian. “They’re a perfect snack. And by the way, they taste like mini pizzas,” he says. What’s not to love about this snack? Yum!

2. Avocado Crackers
Avocado toast lovers, this one is for you.
Dr. Ian turns avocado toast into a mouthful with these adorable crackers. “So just take a quarter of an avocado and mash it up really easily. Then put it on our crackers, top it with a little sea salt or kosher salt and balsamic vinegar.” It’s so simple. Dr. Ian also suggests using whole wheat or whole grain crackers, as they are much healthier than regular crackers.
Why it’s good for you: “Avocados are full of mono-saturated fats, which are the good fats. They’re good for lowering bad cholesterol levels, but also contain lots of fiber,” says Dr Ian.
3. Chocolate Covered Bananas
If you are more of the type sweet snack no one, these chocolate covered bananas will be your new favorite, says Dr. Ian.
“You take dark chocolate (and) melt it. You can do it in the microwave or on the stove.”
“Then you take your bananas (and) cut them into little banana pieces. You freeze them and then you take a toothpick and you go in your chocolate. Put it on parchment paper, (and) you put it in your freezer for about 45 minutes. and then you get chocolate-covered bananas,” he says. Although this snack may take a little longer to prepare, the reward is definitely worth it.
Why it’s good for you: “Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants. It sometimes contains more than the fruit itself,” reveals Dr Ian. Additionally, bananas contain fiber, vitamin C and other nutrients, according to the document.
