From March next year, International Medical University (IMU) students will be able to shadow in chiropractic clinics around the world after completing their studies.
The university’s collaboration under a recently signed memorandum of understanding with Chiropractic First Group (CFG) marks the launch of a graduate trainee program for the IMU Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, which emphasizes on student mobility, clinical experience and industry development in light of the current unequal relationship between chiropractic practitioners and patients.
The partnership will also see CFG and IMU working in tandem to exchange ideas on training programmes, industry best practice and the jobs market for graduates in the wellbeing sector. Additionally, IMU students will have the opportunity to broaden their horizons at CFG’s international branches in Singapore, Indonesia, China, UK and Europe.
With a combined total of more than two million patients worldwide, CFG experts, drawn from a roster of more than 50 practitioners, will host regular seminars and lectures for the IMU chiropractic cohort.
Janice Chan, director of the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at IMU, said the partnership would create opportunities for the university’s students and strengthen their education with practical, real-world experience.
The CFG will also provide a leadership scholarship and book prize totaling up to RM160,000 to IMU students to cultivate future leaders in the field of chiropractic, supporting their educational journey and recognizing their outstanding achievements.
As part of the five-year agreement, CFG founder and CEO Matt Kan will be named a member of IMU’s Industry Advisory Board, a Nov. 10 press release states.
