MUSLIMS should regularly evaluate their life goals and prioritize health issues, especially as they approach adulthood.
This was advised by a medical doctor, Badru Olamiji, during the 2022 professional development seminar of the Majlis Tajdeed Tadhamunul Muslimeen Association (MTTMA) held recently in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja .
Speaking on the theme “Health Challenges and Peculiarities of Midlife Syndrome”, Olamiji described the stage of middle adulthood, usually between 40 and 60 years, as being characterized by various health and emotional problems.
These problems, he said, can only be effectively resolved through a good understanding of reality and cooperation from society.
He said insomnia, medication abuse, extreme sadness, pessimism and heart failure, among others, were the consequences of people’s inability to cope with situations that had produced negative consequences.
Since the adulthood stage is inevitable, Olamiji recommended regular exercise, personal counseling, increased level of spirituality, community activism and mentoring as some of the antidotes to the physical and emotional challenges associated with this stadium.
Meanwhile, an entrepreneur, Mr. Adebayo Tajudeen, speaking on the theme “Pragmatic Steps towards Retirement”, advised Muslim workers to always review their cash flow, cultivate the habit of saving and investing widely in order to avoid the shock waves associated with retirement.
He identified poor planning and ineffective financial management as the reasons for the failure of retirement plans and called for early preparation for the reality of life after retirement.
On why many retirees do not live long after gainful employment, Tajudeen said many people were not mentally prepared for retirement or did not have the financial means to cope with the situation.
The Head of the MTTMA Professional Department in Abuja, Ustaz Daud Adelakin, noted that the theme of the seminar, “4:40 – Misconceptions, Challenges and Perspectives”, was appropriate at a time when the mortality rate had increased significantly, in particularly in developing countries. world.
He therefore called on Muslims to always prioritize issues that could help them maintain a healthy lifestyle.
He congratulated the participants who crowded into the room.
MTTMA Coordinator in Abuja, Ustaz Ali Shuaib Abdul Salam, said it was high time Muslims took charge of their financial and health affairs so as to be more productive for the family and society at large.
He said unemployment, poverty and disease would be effectively controlled if people became more personally responsible.
Muslim professionals from the FCT and Niger and Nasarawa states attended the seminar.
