Expert Diet Tips for Optimal Nutrition:
Foods rich in protein:
Clinical nutritionist Dr. Ritika Sammadar shares, “One should get 10-35% of daily calorie requirements from protein. An Indian man weighing on average 60 kg needs 60 grams of protein and a woman weighing 55 kg on average needs 55 grams. She also adds that “eggs, lean meat, beans, dairy products, nuts, seeds and lentils should be consumed due to their high protein content.”
Cereals and cereals
Medical expert Mahesh Jayaraman suggests: “Give energy and important vitamins and minerals to your body by consuming grains like rice, corn, millet, sorghum, wheat and barley, starchy roots like potatoes and sweet potatoes, and starchy fruits at least once a day.
Water
Water not only quenches thirst, but also helps most bodily functions. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water every day along with other healthy drinks like coconut water, lemonade, and fruit juices. Add herbs and spices like cumin seeds, coriander seeds, basil leaves and mint leaves in your drinking water is also a good idea.
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Besides fiber, vitamins and minerals, fruits and vegetables also provide immune-enhancing properties through antioxidants and flavonoids that help us stay healthy.
