History of National Nutrition Week
National Nutrition Week was founded in 1975 by members of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), now known as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This week was dedicated to raising awareness among the general public of the importance of good nutrition and the need for an active lifestyle.
Due to the favorable reception from the masses, the celebration of this week in 1980 was spread over an entire month. National Nutrition Week was first observed in India in 1982, when the national government launched a campaign to inform and motivate people to live long and healthy lives.
