The theme of National Nutrition Day 2022 is “Celebrate a World of Flavors”, to motivate people to live a healthy lifestyle while enjoying the flavors of food. The theme for 2021 was “Feed Smart.”
History of National Nutrition Week
National Nutrition Week was first celebrated in 1975 by the American Dietetic Association (ADA), now known as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The ADA, through National Nutrition Week, aimed to create awareness among the public about the various benefits of maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet.

The week was first recognized in India in 1982, when the Indian government launched several initiatives to motivate and educate the people towards a healthy lifestyle.
Importance of National Nutrition Week
A good, healthy and nutritious diet has many benefits. It protects against chronic diseases and leads them towards a long and happy life.
India is ranked 101st in the Global Hunger and Health Index.st out of 116 countries with a score of 27.5. The country faces a serious hunger problem and many citizens suffer from malnutrition. A part of the population also suffers from obesity, mainly due to poor lifestyle choices.
