For its first digital issue, Very good health turned its attention to preventive health.
Alright Preventive health problem, set to debut today, aims to encourage people to invest in their health before chronic illnesses develop. Star of “Queer Eye” Jonathan Van Ness serves as his cover star.
Dotdash Meredith Senior Vice President and Group General Manager, Healthcare Sarah Michel said the decision to focus on preventive health was driven by the unfortunate tendency of people to avoid screenings and doctor visits during the pandemic.
“Over the past few years, we have found that many people are neglecting regular screenings and annual exams, which can lead to poorer long-term health outcomes,” Michael explained. “The goal is to educate people about preventive health and encourage them to come back to their providers’ offices.”
Van Ness, a longtime advocate for the LGBTQ+ community on HIV-related issues, is featured in both photos and an interview.
“We chose him because of his advocacy for life-saving care, especially for the LGBTQ+ community,” Michael said. “He has been an outspoken ally to people living with HIV, including himself, and has spoken widely about living a healthy lifestyle and taking control of your health. It fit perfectly. »
The digital issue will include sections such as “Getting Back on Track,” which encourages people to maintain regular screenings, medication adherence and oral health care. The Q&A will introduce a GP, dentist and dermatologist to the most important types of screenings and preventive care measures.
“Doing a digital issue has been exciting for us because we have focused a lot of our strategy on being a health services content site,” Michael said. “It’s different for us and an interesting way to present content and visuals around a certain theme, as well as provide something immersive to our users around an important topic.”
