Patients are turning to mindfulness and related approaches to treat a multitude of issues, including chronic pain, high blood pressure, anxiety, and gastrointestinal difficulties. According to a 2017 US national survey, the number of adults who practiced mindfulness in the year before their survey tripled. This perspective on what a patient experiences in each moment and how it can affect their mind and body introduces a new context for treatment; but is mindfulness supported by evidence?
