The Mission Hospital Behavioral Health team completed the successful opening of the new Sweeten Creek Mental Health and Wellness Center (SCMHWC) this weekend. The $65 million, 82,000-square-foot facility will house patients ages four through geriatrics and offer 38 additional beds.
“We are very happy to be in our new space. This healing environment will provide our team and patients with the best place to succeed on their wellness journey,” said Melina Arrowood, Chief Operating Officer of Behavioral Health at Mission Hospital.
Located on 25 acres off Sweeten Creek Road, SCMHWC offers 120 beds and separate units for each age group, with additional outdoor space designed specifically for pediatric, adult or geriatric patients. These outdoor courtyards offer play equipment in the pediatric outdoor area, a basketball court in the adult area and a walking path in the geriatric area. There is also a horticultural area and an indoor basketball court.
In keeping with another commitment HCA Healthcare has made to this community, this new facility will offer cognitive behavioral therapy, educational group therapy, music and art therapy, pet therapy, medication management, mindfulness , assertiveness skills, safety planning, relaxation therapy and treatment for patients and their families. education. SCMHWC also has an on-site pharmacy and cafeteria.
This Mission Health campus is designed specifically to care for those who need acute inpatient behavioral health care or outpatient programs such as our Intensive Outpatient Program or Partial Hospitalization Program.
