By expanding our efforts to help guide policy on the growing cannabis market and explaining why the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix is the latest example of the city’s new sports economy, UNLV continues to look toward ‘future.
Plan for tomorrow
UNLV launched the first Cannabis Policy Institute, which will work to develop policy and increase our educational opportunities with microcredentials and executive education. The institute’s ambitions include hosting the first national cannabis policy summit next year:

THE UNLV Pantry is increasing its ability to combat food insecurity on campus with the addition of a new van. A partnership with Three Square Food Bank and the Molasky family makes this new addition possible, as covered KLAS-TV: 8 news now.
Sports media giant ESPN is partnership with the International Gaming Institute at UNLV with the aim of advancing responsible sports betting practices and analyzing their media impact. The IGI will develop a program with a $200,000 investment from ESPN, which will be dedicated to staffing, research, outreach and operational needs. And Rebel football continues to build on a massive year, winning nine games for the first time since the ’80s and advancing to their first-ever Mountain West Conference championship game. Quarterback Jayden Maiava won conference rookie of the year honors, kicker Jose Pizano was named special teams player of the year and first-year head coach Barry Odom became coach of year in the Mountain West. Whether you’ve spent the last few months dodging traffic or simply have a need for speed, you probably have a few opinions about F1. The Las Vegas Grand Prix set the eyes of the sports world on Las Vegas for the swankiest, glitziest race ever conceived outside of Mario Kart.
