Violence and injury prevention
The Violence and Injury Prevention Program (VIPP) aims to prevent death and disability from intentional and unintentional injuries by assessing the incidence of injuries and developing programs that reduce the risk of injuries. The services are provided through a contractual process with various beneficiaries from all over Pennsylvania. The goal of these funding initiatives is to focus on policy, environmental, and systemic changes complemented by evidence-based individual behavior change, where appropriate, to improve the overall health and safety of our communities .

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Prevention Initiatives: Reduce the prevalence and risk of ACEs, including child maltreatment and child sexual abuse, by implementing evidence-based initiatives, such as Parents informed about PCAR program through County and Municipally Funded Health Services (CMHD).
Falls prevention initiatives: A question of balance (MOB): Evidence-based program for managing concerns about falls. Currently, we partner with nine CMHDs in Allegheny, Allentown, Bethlehem, Chester, Erie, Montgomery, Wilkes-Barre, Philadelphia and York.
Motor Vehicle Safety: Depending on community needs, funded CMHDs choose to focus on adolescent and/or mature drivers and some also offer car seat distribution and education on the latest developments. child passenger safety information.
Suicide prevention: Funded CMHDs implement evidence-based suicide prevention initiatives and programs, including: ‘Discussions save lives‘, ‘Question, persuade, refer‘ and participate in suicide prevention working groups in their communities.
Traumatic brain injury: Funded CMHDs promote Concussion Wise Pennsylvania education courses in their schools and communities.
Pennsylvania Violent Death Reporting System (VDRS): This program was created to collect and disseminate accurate, timely, and comprehensive surveillance data on all violent deaths in selected target areas using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
Sexual violence prevention education: Pennsylvania Fund
Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR) to provide sexual violence prevention and education programs throughout Pennsylvania.
Violence Dashboard: The Violence Dashboard is an interactive tool designed to display aggregated statistics on reasons for hospital discharge and causes of death in Pennsylvania. Counts, crude rates and age-adjusted rates can be produced for assaults, attempted self-harm, firearm suicides, cutting, piercing and poisoning.
