An exclusive interview with Meeta Nagpal, founder and president of TAF – The Artiste Foundation

In an exclusive interview, Meeta Nagpal shares her story of art, creativity and the transformative power of giving back.
Q. Meeta Nagpal has an impressive and diverse background. Could you give us more information about her journey as an entrepreneur and social worker, and how she managed to excel in several fields?
Since childhood, Meeta Nagpal has been inclined towards performing arts and started learning Kathak at the age of 3. Throughout her childhood, she performed in various plays and television documentaries and performed dance performances on television and internationally. As she was academically inclined and graduated from DU, she gave a break to her performing arts. The gap widened as she settled into her family life. She then returned to the performing arts field as an entrepreneur creating a safe space for teaching as well as training and mentoring new talent. Wherever artists needed support, she went out of her way and that’s how her foundation took shape. She was able to achieve this because not only is she extremely passionate and dedicated to her work, but she also has an extremely supportive family and team who encourage and support her through thick and thin.
Q. Musical Dreams, his 18-year-old business, has an intriguing “garage-to-globe” story. Could you tell us more about the journey of Musical Dreams and its role in identifying and promoting talented artists?
Musical Dreams started from Meeta Nagpal’s living room. But as his popularity grew, she took him into the professional space. In 8 years of Musical Dreams, she was able to manage her first 10-city tour of young artists (known as the Lil Champs tour) in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Today, its artists have performed all over the world and even international singers and dancers have come to collaborate with Musical Dreams. Thanks to its open door policy, many talented singers and dancers have contacted the event. They were guided by experts and through workshops and training. They were emotionally motivated and guided. Musical Dreams also provided them with a stage through which they were introduced to the entertainment industry.
Q. Meeta Nagpal is the founder and president of TAF – The Artiste Foundation. What are the mission and main objectives of this foundation? How does it help nurture and support artists and creators?
The Foundation’s main mission is to promote new talents and bring them together to support each other, as well as to bring awareness and happiness by creating thought-provoking pieces. It aims to organize various fundraising activities not only for artistic causes but also for the underprivileged sections of the society. As the TAF The Artiste Foundation is a progressive and sensitive organization, many artists can open up with concerns and constraints. A conscious, communicative and aware environment contributes to the growth and development of artists.
Q. Can you tell us more about Meeta’s involvement with Snehi, a psychological support and mental health organization, and her role as an active Rotarian? How does she balance these roles with her other commitments?
Snehi is an organization that promotes mental health and mental health awareness. I have been associated with Snehi for 15 years as a board member. After completing counseling training, I actively participated in their helpline giving online advice to many people. As a Rotarian, I have been committed to all of my club’s projects. Whether it is the charity dispensary or the distribution of electronic tablets to the underprivileged. I manage all my commitments because I have a very supportive family and team.
Q. Meeta Nagpal is also a published author and poet, a Kathak dancer and a mentor to young artists. Could you highlight some of his notable achievements and contributions in these areas?
I started learning dance and drama at a young age and have performed in plays and given kathak performances on television, on stage and internationally. Gradually I could no longer actively perform on stage, so I took up writing and wrote quite a few musicals. One of my favorite creations is Magic Man, which has been staged twice at Kamani Auditorium. It was based on the eye pledge and encouraged many people to follow this path. As it was very well received, I wrote my first book on the musical Magic Man aimed at pre-teens. One of my greatest achievements is that thanks to this game and this blood, I was able to motivate more than 200 people towards organ and eye donation and have made children aware of a sensitive subject like this. this in a friendly way. As a mentor, I have accompanied many young artists during their initial days of struggle and today, I am proud that some of them are household names in the industry and have participated in various talent shows. reality show.
Q. The article mentions Meeta Nagpal’s co-direction of the musical ‘Magic Man’ and various initiatives like Friday Funkaar and Happy Concerts. Can you give us an overview of these projects and their importance?
magic man – I wrote, conceptualized and co-directed this musical twice. It is based on engaging the eyes and approached the subject in a very beautiful way by showcasing the magic of giving. Through this, I was able to raise awareness and motivate people to engage in eye pawning and organ donation.
Friday Funkaar– A simple initiative where artists of all genres come to perform. It is a judgment-free platform that offers people the opportunity to collaborate and learn from each other in a healthy, inclusive and safe environment.
Good concert– One of our favorite initiatives where artists associated with us perform for disadvantaged schools and share simple laughter, music and joy with them. It may seem small but it creates a lasting happiness quotient with children.
Q. TAF – The Artist Foundation, a non-profit organization, plays a crucial role in supporting artists and creators. What are some of the key activities and programs launched by TAF, and how does it aim to create a positive impact on society?
TAF – The Artist Foundation aims to create a strong fraternity of artists who can work together for themselves and society, raising awareness and funds for causes. Currently, they are working on their initiatives – Friday Funkaar and Happiness Concerts and providing rehearsal space to artists for creation. Their next step for which work has already begun are senior artist talks and organizing small events to bring different art forms together.
It aims to create a positive impact by raising awareness and improving connections within the artist fraternity. For artists, it’s about empowering them by imparting knowledge and creating a safe, judgment-free place for them to grow.
